Centre for Sustainaible Development & Research (CSDR)

Centre for Sustainaible Development & Research (CSDR) aims to facilitate and strengthen the links between providers of research and policymakers across government, in order to improve evidence-based policymaking to deliver government's objectives for sustainable development. Its specific objectives are to:
  • Facilitate the provision of research and evidence to policymakers;
  • Engage government policymakers, scientists and members of the research community;
  • Promote sustainable development in the research and academic communities;
  • Work with funding bodies to encourage relevant research; and
  • Advise the Sustainable Development Unit on SD research issues.

is a more than profit research body that develops international and national academic and commercial partnerships to build models and identify performance indicators to assist in monitoring and measuring sustainable development.

CSDR provides the necessary mechanisms to develop research activity to aid further understanding of the current environmental and sustainability issues. And, through the dissemination of its research knowledge, the Centre seeks to provide SME's with the stimulus with which to identify new business development opportunities.

Sustainability Management Systems

SDRC has the expertise to take business through all levels of Environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility Management Systems to full ISO 14001. CSDR seeks to implement broad based management systems that incorporate social and economic parameters into environmental management.

Assisting organizations to create a sustainable culture, by creating the right balance between the economic, environmental and social issues that affect it.

Sustainable Communities Model

Providing a quantitative measure that will enable communities to meet their future needs in the most sustainable way.


Seminars and Conferences

CSDRoffer a variety of programmes from general environmental awareness to fully accredited courses. The first CSDR annual conference in Sustainability was held in October this year. CSDR cater for all individuals, companies and communities who wish to develop their environmental skills and knowledge.

The research community can help to achieve these objectives through:

" High quality, policy relevant, research integrating social, economic and environmental concerns;
" The synthesis and evaluation of existing research to provide the evidence base for policy makers and practitioners;
" The design and implementation of data collection, monitoring and indicator systems; and
" Research underpinning the innovation of more sustainable products and processes
